What is the top rated Korean body wash?
I looked at several Korean body wash products in the market and tested them out. After this, I rated them on basis of ingredients, price, fragrance, among other parameters. I found tha the Somang Milk Body Shower is the best Korean body wash.
The top rated Korean body wash is Somang Milk Body Shower. Its lactic acid formula is super gentle on your skin. But despite the mild creamy formula, the body wash removes all dead cells, dirt, etc., from the body leaving it soft and clean.
A shower gel is a type of body wash that only cleans your skin without the added benefits. They tend to have a thinner consistency than body washes.

What are some korean body skin care tips?
Here are some easy to follow Korean body care tips:
- Exfoliate regularly: Use a body scrub along with your shower routine to get rid of dead cells. Exfoliation also helps improve blood circulation, removes ingrown hairs, and brightens your complexion.
- Cleansing: Choose a good, dermatologist-recommended cleanser in the shower. Pick one without sulfates or harsh chemicals. And which contains ingredients that nourish your body.
- Moisturize: Apply a nourishing body lotion or milk after you get out of the shower, especially if you love taking hot baths. These keep your skin soft and supple, and prevent premature aging.
- Sun protection: Never leave home without applying sunscreen to exposed body parts. Try covering your hands with gloves or using an umbrella during extremely sunny days.
- Treat yourself: Give your body the same love as your face. Apply hand cream regularly, get chemical foot peels to leave your feet soft, and use a body spray to keep yourself smelling great.
Should I get a sulfate-free Korean body wash?
Most soaps, shampoos and body wash products contain sulfates. These ingredients act as surfactants and remove dirt, oil, and debris of all sorts from the skin and hair.
The most commonly appearing sulfates are sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) and sodium laureth sulfate (SLES).
But the catch with these sulfates is that they remove all natural oils along with grease and dirt.
So you’re skin can feel dry and dehydrated after you shower or wash your hair/face with a sulfate-based product.
You should pick a sulfate-free body wash if you have sensitive skin or dry skin. There are other milder forms of surfactants you can look out for like cocamide betaine ( a coconut-derived cleanser) and sulfosuccinate (a milder form of sulfates).

How I tested the best Korean body wash products?
There are several Korean shower products in the market, I decided to test and use a select few. After trying them out, I rated them on a scale of 1-5 based on the following parameters.
- Cleansing power – Any shower gel or body wash needs to first and foremost clean your skin thoroughly.
- Moisturizing – The body wash must not be too drying. Products that contained hydrating ingredients or emollients were given extra points.
- Price and Quantity – As a body wash is something you’d use on a daily basis, I made sure to test products that were affordable. The ratio of price to quantity was also something I took into account.
- Ingredients – The Korean body wash products shouldn’t contain any harsh surfactants or parabens or other ingredients that can be harmful.
We all know how beneficial Korean skincare products are. Their products are popular around the world, and they deliver amazing results.
I have put out a list of top Korean body wash for each skin type. Check out my reviews below:
Somang Milk Body Shower
Best Korean Body Wash For Acne
Somang milk body shower is recommended for those with dry skin like mine. So it was the first one I tried out!
The key ingredient in this body wash treatment is milk, which creates a hydrating protective layer on the body. And I am pleased to say it exceeded my expectations.
I found this to be a creamy body wash that lathers well and gets rid of impurities thoroughly. But at the same time it doesn’t really dry out my skin.
Milk has numerous benefits for the skin, and as the main ingredient in this body wash, it claims to prevent premature aging, remove dark spots, shrink pores, soothe irritation and allergic reactions, and act as exfoliator too!
So is this body wash that it claims to be? I’d say yes it does!
I also liked the inclusion of lactic acid in the formula as it helps in removing dead skin cells and accelerating cell growth.
There’s one complaint I had – the formula is too runny. The body wash doesn’t lather well either which is to be expected as it lacks sulfates or harsh surfactants.
But it makes me use more product to get that “clean” feeling so this product didn’t last me long at all.
How to use: Wet your body. Pump an appropriate amount onto a bath towel or sponge and work it into a lather. Gently scrub yourself all over. Rinse off thoroughly.
Pros:
- Keeps skin hydrated as it contains milk extracts
- Pleasant scent that is not too overpowering
- Doesn’t contain harsh surfactants so it’s gentle on skin
- Exfoliates skin as it contains lactic acid
Cons:
- You need to use a lot of product as the formula doens’t lather well
My Ratings:
- Cleansing Power – 4/5
- Moisturizing Power – 4.5/5
- Price & Quantity – 4/5
- Ingredients – 4.5/5

Illyoon Ceramide Top to Toe wash
Best Korean Body Wash For Everyday Use
Illyoon Ceramide Top to Toe wash is suitable for those with sensitive skin.
I was intrigued by this body wash as it is completely synthetic colourant-free, fragrance-free, child-friendly, and animal-based ingredient-free.
My skin can break out during the summers and I really like to shower every day too. So this body wash was ideal for everyday gentle cleansing. I loved how it left my skin squeaky clean without making it too dry.
I also give it bonus points for its hypoallergenic formula. The body wash focuses on maintaining the pH levels of the skin and protects its acidic layer. So folks with body acne, rashes, and redness will love this one!
I also like how the body wash contains Ceramide capsules that restore and maintain the moisture barrier of the skin.
So these capsules, after getting absorbed, soothe dry and irritated skin immediately with their moisturizing effect. I use it after spending a day getting tanned at the beach or if I have a nasty rash just to get that immediate soothing effect.
Oh, and the best part? This is a head to toe wash so you can use it on your hair as well. I didn’t dare try it on my damaged tresses but if you have a bald head this would be a great choice!
How to use: Dispense a small amount of product on moist hands or shower ball, then lather all over the body or hair and scalp. Gently massage and rinse thoroughly.
Pros:
- Head to toe wash so it saves you money
- Good for sensitive skin as it’s pH balanced
- Hypoallergenic formula is good for people with skin sensitivity
- Soothes and moisturizes dry skin with ceramides
Cons:
- None as far as I’m concerned
My Ratings:
- Cleansing Power – 3.5/5
- Moisturizing Power – 4.5/5
- Price & Quantity – 3.5/5

Holika Holika 92% Aloe Shower Gel for Men & Women
Best Korean Whitening Body Wash
I got this shower gel as it boasts of containing 92% aloe vera leaf juice. It is fermented before being incorporated into the shower gel to maximize the effect of aloesin, a substance that is great for soothing skin.
This Holika Holika shower gel is another one of my summer go-to’s!
I love how it leaves my skin clear and healthy. And how this body wash doesn’t strip off the moisture on my skin despite being an excellent cleanser.
Also, I’m looking to move away from shower products with too many chemicals. So this body wash was a top choice as it is free of parabens, benzophenone, propylene glycol, animal ingredients, artificial colouring, BHT, and mineral oil.
Now that’s quite a list, huh?
The shower gel helps soothe skin that has been exposed to the sun, so it is an ideal choice for summer skincare.
I also liked that the product also contains cucumber and watermelon, which are high in water content. Cucumber is an excellent cooling agent, whereas watermelon is supposed to help in brightening and whitening the skin.
But honestly? I didn’t feel the whitening effect of this product. It works well as a soothing cleanser and even to some extent for acne.
If you want skin whitening, then you should go for the Somang Milk Body wash or the Koji Whitening soap instead.
How to use: Apply a proper amount to a washcloth or sponge and lather up. Rub it all over your body. Finally, gently massage and then rinse off.
Pros:
- Natural ingredients that do not cause skin irritation
- Pleasant light scent that is not too overwhelming
- Hydrating but doesn’t leave skin greasy
- Aloe vera-based formula leaves skin refreshed
Cons:
- Not very moisturizing especially for dry skin types
- Fragrance too strong for some people
My Ratings:
- Cleansing Power – 4.5/5
- Moisturizing Power – 3.5/5
- Price & Quantity – 4.5/5

Who It’s For – People With Normal to Oily Skin
Tree to Tub Sensitive Skin Body Wash
Best Korean Body Wash For Sensitive Skin
This brand creates products suitable for people with dry, sensitive, allergy-prone, and oily skin. They have a fragrance or chemical-free range for sensitive skin as well. So I simply had to out this Tree To Tub Body Wash!
I found the Tree to Tub sensitive body wash to be perfect for those with delicate and easily irritated skin. I used this when I had a bit of a sunburn as I was amazed at how soothing it was.
If you have dry skin, however, the Holika Holika or Illiyoon shower gel might be a better choice, but if you’re looking for something more cleansing this is it!
And the surfactants used here are wild Soapberries, which unlike sulfates leave you clean and fresh without drying your skin too much.
It also boasts of other highly effective ingredients like Shea Butter, Cucumber, and Chamomile, and Tea Tree Leaf which has antibacterial benefits.
I also really liked the very mild smell of natural Orange essential oil, which this body wash contains. It leaves me feeling relaxed and is excellent when I a want a spa day to myself at home.
I will also comment Tree To Tub as it is a vegan, cruelty-free, nature-friendly brand that only uses safe and gentle ingredients.
And it’s not very expensive either, especially when compared to Illiyoon or Somang!
How to use: Massage the creamy soapberry lather onto skin and rinse off with cold water to lock in extra moisture. Use daily and lotion with our shea butter lotion afterwards for best results.
Pros:
- Vegan and cruelty-free that is environmental friendly
- Natural ingredients that are safe on sensitive skin
- Natural fragrance from essential oils that doesn’t trigger sensitivities
- pH balanced formula that doesn’t dry skin
Cons:
- Not very moisturizing for dry skin types
My Ratings:
- Cleansing Power – 4/5
- Moisturizing Power – 3/5
- Price & Quantity – 4.5/5

Who It’s For – People With Body Acne
Innisfree Olive Real Body Cleanser
Best Korean Body Wash For Dry Skin
You know what drew me to this body wash? Apparently the top ingredient is Extra Virgin Olive oil derived from Crete Island. These are extracted from Golden Olives, which is one of the finest quality olives available.
Olives are one of the best ingredients for skin care as they are rich in fatty acids and amino acids, and it is called “liquid gold” because of their qualities.
Now I’ve told you how amazing the Tree To Tub and Holika Holika shower gels felt during the summer. But as you know the winter months calls for something more moisturizing.
I also liked how the body wash contains antioxidants, vitamins, and nutrients that are highly beneficial and leave the skin softer.
Although the product claims to provide 24 hours of hydration, I didn’t feel its effects quite as long. So you shouldn’t skimp on the body lotion after you shower.
But it’s still very nourishing, so I would recommended for people that are dealing with dry, rough skin.
It has a creamy consistency and a very soothing floral green and citrusy orange fragrance. So using it in the shower was quite a relaxing experience.
I also would like to give bonus points to this product, as it is free from animal-derived ingredients, perfume, and talc.
I had one teeny tiny problem and that is the formula doesn’t leave the “squeaky clean” feeling. So you might not feel clean but that’s only due to the oil-based formula.
How to use: Apply an appropriate amount onto a bath sponge or shower towel. Massage onto the entire body and thoroughly rinse off with water afterward.
Pros:
- Natural antioxidant-rich formula that repairs skin damage
- No added perfume that doesn’t trigger sensitivity
- Deep moisturization for extra dry skin
- Natural citrus fragrance that is gentle on skin
Cons:
- Skin doesn’t feel too “clean” after using it
My Ratings:
- Cleansing Power – 3/5
- Moisturizing Power – 5/5
- Price & Quantity – 4/5
- Ingredients – 4.5/5

SkinFood Rose Shower Perfumed Body Wash
Best Fragrance
What attracted me most to this Skin Food body wash was its amazing scent. It’s not a great beauty product for Korean women.
Anyone with a long day behind them will get instantly refreshed after a shower with this Rose Shower Perfumed Body Wash.
And the rose extract are not only good at calming your mind. They are amazing skin care ingredients that soothe and nourish your body.
I just have one little complaint! This product is perfumed which means that it contains artificial fragrance.
So if you have really sensitive skin or conditions like eczema it isn’t the best for you.
Pros:
- Leaves skin squeaky clean
- Pleasant fragrance
Cons:
- Added perfume
- Harsh surfactants

Brightening Soap Bar
Yes, technically I am cheating by including a bar soap on this list of Korean skincare products, but this body wash treatment is so worth it. If you want to make your skin brighter and tighter, this Koji Soap is just for you.
