Top Male Kpop Dancers 2022

In no particular order, here are the top Kpop dancers in the world today!

Jungkook – BTS

Is it any surprise that a BTS member is on the list? I mean have you seen their dance moves. While all of BTS are really good dancers, Jungkook stands out for sure.

Jungkook is known for choreographing several of his own dance moves.

A lot of fans have appreciated how Jungkook manages to do both upbeat, fast dance moves and slow, graceful moves well.

But despite this, I think he’s best known for his street-style, hip-hop choreography that has a very modern, sharp vibe to it.

Jimin – BTS

Another of BTS’s most amazing Kpop dancers is Jimin. Unlike Jungkook who is more into hip-hop, Jimin is better known for his graceful dance moves.

He excels in lyrical and contemporary style dancing as evident in the performance he gave in the 2019 MMAs.

A lot of people might not know this but Jimin is actually a trained ballet dancer. So it’s no surprise he has such fluidity and grace when he’s performing!

J-Hope – BTS

Like Jungkook, J-hope too is more into hip-hop and freestyle dancing. J-hope is also a trained dancer with six years of dance training at the Gwangju Music Academy under his belt.

He was also a part of an underground dance group called Neuron before joining BTS.

J-Hope, whose real name is Jung Ho-seok also received several awards and prizes for his dancing skills before becoming famous.

Hoshi – SEVENTEEN

This list of the top male Kpop dancers would be incomplete without Hoshi. In fact, it was dance that made him famous in the first place!

He was selected to be a part of the Kpop group SEVENTEEN after winning a dance competition.

Hoshi’s dance style can be described as being creative and graceful. In an interview, Hoshi once said that he was inspired by Micheal Jackson as a child.

And this inspiration can definitely be seen in his choreography!

For all his effort, Hoshi has been named the head of the Performance Unit of SEVENTEEN. His amazing dance moves can be seen in the recently released single “SPIDER”.

Rocky – Astro

Like Hoshi, Rocky from the Kpop group Astro became well-known thanks to his dance moves.

After debuting in Astro, he went on to wow critics and audiences alike with his portrayal of The Mask in the reality dance competition Hit The Stage.

He also came second in the reality dance show called Dance War which he entered under the pseudonym Purple23.

Rocky like most of his contemporaries is a trained dancer and once revealed that he would like to be a dance teacher if he wasn’t a popstar.

Hoya – Infinite

Hoya is a trained dancer and for many years was a part of an underground hip-hop dancing crew in Busan called “Two O’ Clock”.

Just like Astro, Hoya too was a part of the dance reality show Hit The Stage.

Ten – NCT

Another participant in the show Hit The Stage was NCT’s member Ten. Born Chittaphon Leechaiyapornkul, Ten is of Chinese-Thai ethnicity.

He’s best known for doing Hip Hop and freestyle dancing. But Ten’s also very versatile.

You can see him performing graceful, fluid dance moves with ease in the music video of Ten’s version of Lovely (which was originally created by Khalid and Billie Eilish).

And in the dance rehearsals of the song New Heroes, you can see him in all his hip-hop glory!

Below you can see Eunhyuk of Super Junior mid way in one of his awesome dance routines!

Eunhyuk – Super Junior

Eunhyuk from the Kpop group Super Junior is best known for his locking and popping skills. This style of dancing isn’t really popular in South Korea, but you can see how amazing he is at it.

Due to his amazing dance skills, Eunhyuk is responsible for directing Super Junior’s dance shows from the time Super Show 3 came out.

He considers Micheal Jackson and HOT’s Jang Woo-hyuk his dance inspirations.

Lay – Exo-M

Lay Zhang is a member of the team Exo-M. He’s originally from China and known for hip-hop dance style.

He was in news recently for winning the Converse M-All Star Street Dance Competition in China.

A video of him practising the choreography to the song Love Shot in an open shirt recently went viral, making fans go crazy.

Yeonjun – TXT

Yeonjun is one of the more versatile dancers in TXT. He can do powerful hip-hop moves and fluid, contemporary dance both.

He is a trained dancer and a graduate of the Withbill Dance Studio. When he was a trainee of Big Hit Entertainment company (now known as HYBE), he ranked first for dance, vocals, and rap.

Yeonjun also appeared as a backup dancer in many performances before he shot to fame.

Taeyong from NCT in the middle of peforming!

Taeyong – NCT

It’s a testimonial of his hard work that Lee Taeyong is on this list. He has no dance background unlike several other K-pop idols in this list who have graduated from dance schools or received formal training.

Despite this, he was assigned the role of the main dancer in NCT. And Taeyong doesn’t disappoint!

Eagle-eyed Kpop dance enthusiasts have noted that Taeyong’s dance style focus mainly on being precise and dynamic.

He also adds a very sensual vibe to his choreography while performing.

Yugyeom – GOT7

If you talk to an ahgasae (which is the Got7 fandom name) they’ll tell you that Yugyeom is the best Kpop dancer on Got7.

He’s also the winner of the Mnet dancing competition Hit The Stage.

Anyone who’s watched the Not By The Moon music video or his solo performance during the Keep Spinning World Tour in 2019 can doubt Yugyeom’s dance moves.

If you check out his Instagram, you can find lots of videos of Yugyeom rehearshing for dance performances.

Hyunseung – BEAST

BEAST is one of the older Kpop groups out there. Hyunseung can almost be considered a forerunner to the modern Kpop dancer.

He first auditioned to be a part of YG Entertainment in 2004 at the age of 15. He first started out as a trainee for the Kpop group BigBang.

Hyunseung has worked as a dancer for a show performance team and has also starred in the reality show Hit The Stage.

You can see Hyunseung’s amazing dance skills in music videos for songs like You’re the First.

Rain

Rain is the stage name of Korean actor and singer Jung Ji-Hoon. He is known in Korea for his incredible physique and hip hop dance moves.

Starting his music career in 2004, Rain made waves with the hottest choreography on his concerts, music videos and world tours.

After retiring from a full-time music career, Rain started his own entertainment company called J. Tune Entertainment and produced a Kpop group called MBLAQ for whom he frequently choreographs dance routines.

Taemin –  SHINee

Taemin from SHINee is so popular for his dance moves that he’s been nicknamed the Dancing Machine. And it’s a very apt title as his popping and locking skills are out of this world.

If you doubt me, just check out his dancing in the music video of his single Move.

A lot of fans have noticed that Taemin’s style of dancing is more masculine and sharp. His dance is very different from contemporary dances which requires good facial expressions.

Some of the best Taemin performances include his dance with Wonder Girl’s Sumni in the Mnet MAMA awards in 2017 and his collaboration with Jimin at the 2016 KBS Song Festival.

FAQs about Top Kpop Male Dancers

Who is the best male Kpop dancer?

There’s no doubt that Taemin is the best male Kpop dancer. He has won several dance awards including Music Bank, Inkigayo and M Countdown awards. His dances are charismatic, colorful and exciting. He is known for his smooth moves, even during difficult choreography. Taemin is also a very talented singer and rapper. He has been featured in several songs on SHINee’s albums and even released his own solo album in 2014. Taemin has been in the Kpop industry for 10 years!

Who is the fastest rapper in Kpop?

In the battle of K-Pop rappers, the clear winner is Seo-Chang-Bin, leader of the rap group MFBTY (My Fans Better Than Yours). Known for his unique flow and intricate rhyme schemes, Seo-Chang-Bin’s success is mostly attributed to his membership in MFBTY. The group consists of three rappers: Seo-Chang-Bin, Tiger JK, and Yoon Mirae. Tiger JK and Yoon Mirae both have extensive solo careers and lyrics that can be hard to understand at times. Seo-Chang-Bin is a breath of fresh air for K-Pop. He has an accessible style that is easy to listen to and his lyrics are often about everyday life.

Who dances better in BTS?

I’m going to side with J-hope as the better dancer in BTS for two reasons. The first is that I find his dancing to be more on beat with the music than the other members. When each BTS member dances, it’s important for the dancing to be on beat with the music because it adds so much to the impact of the music and the song.
The second is that J-hope is more flexible than the other BTS members. Yes even more than Jimin or Jungkook. When he dances, he can move his body in ways that are impossible for the other members, and I find that to be really cool. It’s important to note that every member of BTS has his own way of dancing and his own strengths, so I’m not criticizing any of the other members at all.

If you think the Kpop life is all glitz and glamour, think again! These amazing male Kpop dancers have proven that to become an idol you’ll have to put in a lot of hard work.

After several years of training, practising, and rehearsing, these Kpop groups perfect their dance moves and display them to their fans.

There are simply so many amazing Kpop dancers right now, I found it impossible to fit in all of them.

Let me know if I’ve missed out on your favourite idol below!
