Well, it’s pretty obvious that the K-Pop world has experienced a boom in the recent past with the increasing number of K-Pop girl and boy bands taking over the K-Pop music industry.
One among the most famous K-Pop girl bands TWICE, is one that is loved by so many people all over the world. The band consists of 9 members and we often see these Idols all dressed up and dawned with makeup.

TWICE is a nine member girl band that made their debut back in 2015 and are still very active in the K-Pop industry, making amazing music. They were formed under the JYP Entertainment, a South Korean Multinational entertainment company.
The group members include Nayeon, Jihyo, Momo, Sana, Chaeyoung, Mina, Dahyun, Jeongyeon and Tzuyu.
So for those of you who are wondering how TWICE was formed here is a little back story.
In 2015, Mnet and JYP Entertainment created a survival reality show ‘Sixteen’ (often called as the “K-Pop Hunger Games”) where 16 trainees went up against each other to earn their spot in the upcoming girl group which was going to be formed, Twice.
Each of these members were assessed on various factors like their singing skills, dancing performances and their personality.
Once the show ended, the group Twice was formed and made their debut on the 20th of October 2015, with their single ‘Like Ooh-Ahh’, which was part of their extended play ‘The Story Begins’.

1. Jihyo

Jihyo is known to be the leader of the group Twice. Born in South Korea, as Park Ji-hyo, in 1997, the 25 year-old is one of the lead vocalists of the group.
She participated in a contest called Junior Naver and emerged second and that’s when JYP Entertainment decided that they would like her to be a part of their agency.
Jihyo joined the company when she was just 8 years old and thereafter trained with them for 10 years.
Later on, she competed among 15 other contestants in the reality show Sixteen and got selected as a member twice.
2. Nayeon

Born as Im Na-yeon, in South Korea, the 26 year-old singer is one among the 9 members of the band Twice. She is known to have joined the JYP Entertainment agency in 2010 as a trainee after she auditioned for them secretly.
Her name has been trending all over the internet because of her recent achievement in 2022, as she has become the very first K-Pop soloist to enter into the Billboard 200’s top 10 charts, after her eponymous debut extended play called ‘Im Nayeon’ was ranked at number 7 on the US Billboard 200.
3. Tzuyu
Looks like Tzuyu seems to be able to carry off her beautiful appearance irrespective of whether she puts makeup on or not! Isn’t that right?
Taiwanese by birth, 23 year-old Choi Tzu-yu is one among the 9 members of Twice and the only member from Taiwan. She is known for her fabulous singing skills. She only moved to South Korea in 2012 and began her training.
It was only in 2015 that she participated in the reality show Sixteen along with 15 other members and emerged as one among the 9 participants who were selected to form a band, now called Twice. Unlike the other members, Tzuyu’s selection took place by audience’s voting.
4. Jeongyeon
Talk about cuteness overloaded! Jeongyeon looks super adorable in her casual attire without any makeup on.
Yoo Jeong-yeon is a 25 year-old singer and member of the girl band, Twice. She is known to be one of the lead vocalists of the band.
Jeongyeon was always interested in music and wanted to become a singer from a very young age and therefore got trained. She even knows to play two musical instruments, the trumpet and saxophone.
She auditioned for JYP Entertainment in 2010 and later became a contestant in the reality show Sixteen, getting her to become one among the members of Twice.
5. Sana
Sana seems to be one of those people who look stunning with and without makeup. I’m sure her looks catches her a lot of attention.
Sana Minatozaki is a Japanese singer and is one among the three members of Twice who are of Japanese origin. She is currently 25 years old, but always had love for music and dance. She says that she drew her inspiration from some of the girl bands including Girls’ Generation.
She began her training in 2009, with the aim of becoming a singer in Japan, but later was scouted by the company JYP Entertainment, so she auditioned and joined them as a trainee in 2012.
6. Chaeyoung
Chaeyoung looks really beautiful without makeup, no matter whether she dawns a casual or formal outfit!
Twenty-three year-old Son Chaeyoung is one among the rappers of the group. Just like some of her other bandmates, she also had a love for music and performing arts from a young age and had set her mind on becoming a singer even before she auditioned for JYP Entertainment at age 14.
She had received training in dance for one year before her training with JYP Entertainment began. She had also appeared in other music videos before her debut with Twice.
7. Momo
Momo has often been spotted without makeup and doesn’t she look super gorgeous?
Momo Hirai, is one among the three Japanese members of the band Twice. The 25 year-old is a well known rapper and is also known for her singing skills. She is known to have loved dancing from the age of three.
Her first appearance was in a music video at age 12 where she gained good exposure in the music industry. She moved to South Korea in 2012 and danced in many music videos as a K-Pop trainee.
8. Mina
In my opinion Mina looks perfect even without makeup, because it really brings out her flawless and glowing skin!
Twenty-five year-old Mina Myoi is the third Japanese member of the band Twice. She was born in Texas, America and later on moved to Japan where she lived until she moved to South Korea in 2014, after she auditioned for JYP Entertainment and became a trainee with them. Thereafter, she participated in the reality show Sixteen and debuted with her other bandmates in 2015 along with her band, Twice.
9. Dahyun
Dahyun is loved by her fans not only because of her singing and rapping skills, but also because she looks adorable both with and without makeup!
Born as Kim Dahyun in 1998, she is a 24 year-old singer and rapper who belongs to the group Twice. JYP Entertainment recruited Dahyun to train with them after they saw her perform at a dance festival.
She joined them and trained for three years before she contested in the reality show Sixteen and subsequently joined the band Twice.
12 Interesting Facts about TWICE you need to know!
· When HYP entertainment initially wanted to form a girl group, they were only considering having a 7 member girl group. But only later it was revealed that the group would consist of 9 members as they didn’t want to leave out Momo and Tzuyu, because they were excellent and talented performers.
· Before Twice made their official debut, some of the members like Chaeyoung and Tzuyu had already been a part of other music videos in the past.
· Dahyun and Tzuyu, two of the members of Twice have been featured in two question papers during examinations as questions.
· Jeongyeon and Nayeon were a part of GOT7’s music video ‘Girls Girls Girls’.
· Jihyo, the leader of Twice is known to have trained for around 10 years before she made her debut.
· A video game skateboarding character was inspired by Tzuyu, because she is a lover of skateboarding herself.
· Twice makes music based on various genres like hip hop, rap, electronic, jazz etc and is often called as “colour pop”.
· Not all of the nine members of Twice are actually Korean, even though they are K-Pop Idols.
